My Favorite Japanese Phrases
I will write about three of my favorite Japanese phrases. The first is ‘Ganbatte.’ Japanese people always use this word. Especially adults use it very often. I definitely use this word at least once every day, from the time I wake up in the morning until I go to bed at night.
The second is ‘Sumimasen.’ Sometimes the meaning of ‘Sumimasen’ is the same as ‘Gomen nasai’ (I’m sorry). This word has many meanings. It might be one of the most used words in Japanese conversations. I say ‘Sumimasen’ about 20 times a day in Japan.
The third is ‘Irasshaimase.’ This is a greeting phrase used by store staff when customers enter the store in Japan. At first, I didn’t understand the meaning of this word at all. But I learned its meaning before I even realized it because I heard it so often.
In Japan, people value their interactions with others a lot. Therefore, I think there are many greeting phrases in Japanese.
