Graduate Essay

Me at 20 Years Old

In April 2020, with high hopes for a life abroad, I arrived in Kobe. Although I had learned a bit of Japanese in my country, I could only do simple greetings and found it very difficult to communicate. Looking back now, the most fortunate thing at that time was starting my studies at this school.
When I first came to Japan, I faced various challenges, such as adapting to different living habits, learning how to use trains, adjusting to the weather differences from my country, and the variation in food. As it was my first time living alone, there were many concerns. I felt stressed all the time. However, the teachers at the Japanese language school went all out to support my studies and life. I was able to study and interact with classmates who had different goals, broadening each other’s perspectives and honing our Japanese language skills. Thanks to the teachers and friends, I never felt lonely and gradually got used to life.
Last month, I passed the entrance exam for Toyota’s school and will soon start new studies and a part-time job. I may face new challenges and difficulties in the near future, but I believe I can manage well if I remember the experiences taught by the teachers during these two years at school.
Finally, I want to express my gratitude to the teachers. Without their support and help, I wouldn’t have succeeded. Thank you very much.
