The Wonderful Person I Met in Japan
Since coming to Japan, I’ve met many people, both good and bad. However, the person I feel is most special is Mr. Oobayashi. He is kind and affable.
It’s been a year and a half since I came to Japan. I work in caregiving, taking care of the elderly every day. It’s a truly interesting job, and everyone is kind. The energetic clients come to the place where I work.
I met Mr. Oobayashi four months ago. My first impression was that he was a kind and friendly person. He looks about 78 years old. He still comes here. When I have free time at work, I sit next to Mr. Oobayashi and talk with him. He always asks if I am tired and encourages me to keep up the good work. The first time I heard his words of encouragement, I was so happy and moved. He loves to study kanji with me and teaches me a lot about Japanese. Surprisingly, despite his age and tendency to forget things quickly, he never forgot my name. I was so touched that I almost cried. I am truly grateful to Mr. Oobayashi and always treat him as I would my own grandmother.
I always hope that Mr. Oobayashi stays healthy, lives a long life, and keeps smiling.
