Rare Animals
I had the chance to visit a zoo in Japan with my senior. There are various animals in the zoo, but there is one particular animal that I especially like.
This animal suddenly jumped out at me when I stood in front of its cage. It really surprised me. The animal is completely black and resembles a cat, but it has big, sharp claws. Have you guessed the name of this animal? Yes, it’s a black leopard. A really cool animal.
The black leopard is the fastest runner among animals. When hunting, it slowly and quietly approaches its prey and observes. Then, as soon as the prey lets its guard down, it pounces. Similarly, in life, like the black leopard hunting, we must gain knowledge and study thoroughly to prepare ourselves, and when an opportunity arises, we must seize it (the prey) immediately.
Next, I saw a honey badger, also known as a ratel or mellivora capensis. It’s called a honey badger because it loves honey. This member of the weasel family is about 80cm long and has a two-tone color of black and white.
Actually, the honey badger is said to be one of the most feared animals. Generally, wild animals move as quietly as possible. This is because predators do not want their prey to be aware of them, and prey animals do not want to be found by predators.
However, the honey badger is different. It has an aggressive nature and confidently struts around, making loud noises wherever it is. It fearlessly approaches even larger animals. Don’t be deceived by its appearance. Even the “king of beasts,” the lion, and the largest land animal, the African elephant, avoid the fearless honey badger.
I admire the honey badger’s courage and strength. Despite its small size, it can withstand venomous snake bites and bravely confront much larger animals to protect its family. I, too, want to have a strong heart like the honey badger.
