About Happiness
“May you always live a happy life.” This wish is something that probably every human being has. But then, “What is happiness?” No one has ever clearly explained it when asked this question. Interestingly, people have various understandings of happiness.
To the wealthy, happiness might be good health, whereas for those living in poverty, it might be a prosperous life. Some find happiness in being valued and recognized by others. On the other hand, there are those who believe that making others laugh is the essence of happiness.
It seems that perspectives differ from person to person, but in any case, happiness is something that satisfies the human heart. “A happy life is a life that is in harmony with its own nature,” defined the philosopher Seneca.
Happiness is not just a human desire but also a goal in life. Many people work hard to make the rest of their lives better, doing many things they should do. Some say, “I make time to read books,” or “I try not to use my mobile phone as much as possible when spending time with family and friends.” There are even those who believe that “being selfish” is a form of happiness.
I feel the same. For me, the greatest happiness is seeing my parents’ smiles because they feel the happiest when their children grow and succeed. Therefore, I am currently striving every day, focusing all my efforts on achieving my own happiness. What do you think about happiness? If possible, I want you to create your own “happiness.”
