Hobbies
My hobby is basketball. In America, there are many players who say, “Basketball is my life.” Why is basketball so important? Those who have basketball as a hobby or have been playing basketball for a long time should understand these words. Since basketball is my hobby, I understand the meaning of these words very well. Today, I want to write about my thoughts on basketball.
There is a reason why people say, “Basketball is my life.” Last year, I found the reason in an article about basketball on the internet. The article was about African Americans. Many economically disadvantaged African Americans grew up playing basketball on the streets as children. Among them, many continue to practice basketball while working part-time, waiting for the opportunity to become professional basketball players. Becoming a professional basketball player can mean a very high salary and fame. What about in Japan? There are not many Japanese basketball players, but anyone would be happy if they could turn their hobby into a job.
I play basketball every Sunday. Since coming to Japan, I’ve been very busy, but no matter how busy I am, I play basketball at least once a week. For basketball players, their body is truly important. For example, if you injure your leg in an accident, you can’t play basketball, and it feels like life loses its meaning. In fact, as I write this composition, I have injured my leg, so I can’t play basketball this week. Imagine how I feel, unable to play basketball on Sunday. I haven’t been to the hospital, but if I can never play basketball again, life would seem meaningless to me. Anyone with a hobby should be able to understand this feeling. Sports really have become an essential part of life. I encourage everyone to try some kind of sport.
