A Tribute to My Youth

Everyone has various memories. I don’t like lonely memories. However, the happy memories of my youth are unforgettable. For me, youth was a time with fewer worries, naive thinking, and always filled with daydreams.
If asked which era was the best year of my life, the answer would undoubtedly be my youth. My student days were carefree, I didn’t overthink things, and I was passionate about everything. The summers then felt like the sun was higher, the sky clearer, friendships warmer, and love more innocent. All those memories are perfect.
For many, the time spent in school may seem distant, but for me, it remains a beautiful memory. When I feel lonely, I draw strength from these memories.
When I graduated from university or high school, I couldn’t stop my tears of farewell. I felt the cruelty of time acutely. After saying goodbye, I didn’t know when I would see my friends’ faces again.
I am now walking the path I chose for myself. A new chapter of making youth memories has begun. I chose Japan as the place to create my next youthful memories. Among my friends in Vietnam, some have married or settled into stable jobs, but I chose to live independently and started living in Japan.
Now, I am learning a new language and culture. I don’t regret my decision, but life in Japan has not been smooth. When I first came to Japan, everything from the streets to my home was completely new, and I became curious to know more. There were times when I was so troubled that I thought about giving up my studies and returning to my country, but then I remembered why I came to Japan. With the help of my colleagues, teachers, and new friends, I have overcome these difficulties and continued to persevere. I feel truly fortunate compared to others who want to come to Japan but can’t.
My thoughts have changed after experiencing interesting things in Japan. Previously, I often heard that Japanese people were very cold and heartless, but I realized that’s not the case. They treat everyone from any country with a smile, kindness, and equality. This is something I only realized after living in Japan.
To make the most of youth, it’s good to have as many experiences as possible when you’re young. Youth is fleeting and won’t wait for me.
