Graduate Essay

My Treasure

What is important varies from person to person. Health, money, a lover, there are various things. Among them, I think health is important to everyone, but for me, not only health but also my family is very important.
I grew up in a family full of love and laughter. My father worked hard for the family. No matter how tough his job was, he never complained. Although my father was a quiet person and not much of a talker at home, he was always there to comfort us when we, his children, were in trouble. When I was a child and got good grades on a test, my father often bought me toys. That made me so happy.
My mother, who gave birth to me, understands me well. She is a housewife. Being a housewife might sound easy, but I think it’s a tough job. She had to take care of the children from early morning, cook meals, and do the laundry every day. My mother always comforted me no matter how much I failed.
When I was in Vietnam, I wanted to live alone, but now I have been living alone in Japan for a year and a half. Life in Japan is interesting and fun, but there are also many difficulties and troubles. Living alone in Japan is hard. At such times, I fondly remember my parents and home. When I feel lonely living alone in Japan, I wish my parents were here with me.
Still, studying abroad has made me able to live independently and I feel like I have become stronger. Now I can solve problems by myself even without my parents by my side. Through various experiences in Japan, I have grown. My family doesn’t express love in words much, but everyone is happy with my growth. My warm family is my treasure.

To my parents,
I wish you always have healthy and happy days. Please always be there for your child, no matter what.

To myself in 5 years,
What kind of job are you doing? I hope you are doing the job you want to do.
In 5 years, I wonder if I am married. If I am, I hope to have created a happy family.

There are hard times now, but I will work hard for the future.
Everyone, don’t give up for your future too.
