An Unforgettable Journey
Since coming to Japan, I had always wanted to visit Tokyo. So, I decided to use my summer vacation in August this year to go there. At that time, the spread of COVID-19 in Tokyo made me a bit anxious, but I thought it would be fine as long as I wore a mask and used alcohol for disinfection.
I went to Tokyo for 4 nights and 5 days. To my surprise, many people in Tokyo were out without masks, despite the city having the highest number of infections in Japan. There were many people without masks in the trains and crowded places, which made me feel constantly anxious. I always disinfected my hands after getting off the train or being in a crowd, which was a bit troublesome.
In Tokyo, my friends took me to various places. We enjoyed the view of Tokyo from the top of the Skytree and visited the Senso-ji Temple in Asakusa, which was truly beautiful. They also took me to the Shibuya Scramble Crossing, a large and bustling intersection that is busy day and night, something we don’t have in Vietnam.
Additionally, we visited Yanaka, a completely different place from Shibuya. Yanaka retains the atmosphere of old times. We strolled through Yanaka, tasted traditional local cuisine, and saw traditional temples and wooden houses.
Despite the anxiety, the trip turned out to be enjoyable. It’s an unforgettable memory.
