My Future Dream

My dream for the future is to become a caregiver. I think becoming a caregiver is very challenging, but it’s what I aspire to do. My reason for wanting to be a caregiver is that I want to work in a job that helps people, even in a small way.

Currently, I am working part-time delivering newspapers. Through this job, I became friends with a caregiver who works at a nursing home. We talked about our future dreams, the challenges of being a caregiver, and various other topics. She works every day with such vitality and joy. Watching her, I started to feel the desire to do a job that helps others too.

When I discussed this with my mother back home, she opposed the idea, saying that taking care of elderly people requires a lot of physical and mental strength. She mentioned that it can be physically demanding, like when helping the elderly with baths, and sometimes mentally challenging, as some may throw diapers at you. She told me about the various difficult and unpleasant aspects of the job. Still, my desire to pursue a career in caregiving has not changed.

The reason is that I am proud of my friend who does this challenging job with a smile. However, I understand why my mother is hesitant to let me work in such a demanding environment. Talking to her made me realize that caregiving is indeed a tougher job than I had imagined.

But when I see the smiles of the elderly while delivering newspapers every day, I feel like there’s nothing I can’t do. I find fulfillment in this and want to be involved in caregiving, a job that directly helps people.

In high school, I was a cheerleader. Through three years of cheer dancing, I learned a lot about the power of a smile. Cheer dance is about dancing to encourage, energize, and support people. It is essential to dance with a smile. I have danced in many places, but the time I felt the true beauty of a smile was when I visited a nursing home. There, I received many words of gratitude from the elderly. I was surprised and deeply moved to see how much a smile can bring joy to others. Seeing their smiles made me happy too, and I enjoyed spending time with them. It was then I realized how wonderful it is to help bring smiles to people’s faces.

Therefore, I want to become a caregiver, a job that allows me to help others even in a small way.
