About Japanese Cuisine
My hobby is cooking. When I was in Vietnam, I often cooked. After graduating, I consulted with my parents and decided to study abroad in Japan. Of course, I was very interested in Japanese cuisine. I learned about famous Japanese dishes through manga and television.
Can you guess what it is? It’s sushi. I had always wanted to try sushi.
So, when I first went to eat sushi in Japan, I ended up eating thirty pieces! Sushi is indeed very delicious. But what I wanted to do most was to make sushi. Sushi may seem easy to make, but in fact, it’s quite complicated. It requires many ingredients. The first step in making sushi is to prepare the sushi rice. Making delicious sushi rice is very important. You have to cook the rice not too soft, not too hard, then sprinkle vinegar, sugar, and salt on the freshly cooked rice and mix it as if cutting. That’s how you make sushi rice.
Next, you prepare the fillings. Cook the eggs and cut the cucumbers. Once the fillings are ready, you roast the seaweed. Spread rice over the seaweed, place the fillings, and start rolling from the side nearest to you, ensuring that the fillings stay in place. Then, roll it up towards the far side, let it sit for a while until the seaweed and rice stick together properly. Finally, cut it into bite-sized pieces with a sharp knife and serve on a plate. That’s how sushi is made.
The first time I made it, it was very difficult. The hardest part was rolling the sushi. If you don’t roll it tightly, the rice, fillings, and seaweed will fall apart. Although the shape wasn’t perfect, it tasted very good because I made it myself. Making rolled sushi was a lot of fun. I plan to make it again.
