Letter to My Parents
Greetings,
It’s been a while. It’s almost two years since I came to Japan. During this time, I haven’t seen you, Dad and Mom. How are you both doing? What are you up to? Do you think of me? I always remember you both back in Vietnam.
Recently, Vietnam has been hit by a series of typhoons. I’ve seen on TV and the internet about people drowning in floods, roofs being blown off, and power outages. Are you both okay? Did you suffer any damage?
Last month, I heard Dad hurt his neck carrying heavy things. Is it better now? Did you take any medicine? It’s getting colder, so please take care of your health.
Two weeks ago, I passed the Business course at Aile Academy. You must be happy, Dad and Mom. I have enough savings for next year’s tuition and rent, so don’t worry.
Lately, I’ve gotten used to life in Japan and gained a little weight. I can’t fit into my clothes, and Japanese food is so delicious that I struggle to diet. What should I do, Mom?
Since it’s autumn here, I’m planning to visit a temple in Osaka. I have many friends, so I’m not stressed. Don’t worry.
Last night, I dreamt of returning home. I ate the food Mom cooked and watched TV together. There’s a saying that if someone appears in your dream, they’re thinking of you. Maybe, Dad or Mom, you’re thinking of me. I plan to return next summer vacation. Please wait a little longer. I’m looking forward to it.
Lastly, Dad and Mom, please take good care of your health. Let’s meet again.
