This year, I turned 20. Since childhood, I have been interested in cars. My dream since I was a child has been to establish my own automobile company. To fulfill this dream, when I was in high school, I planned to enter a university specializing in automobiles. I worked hard, even studying at my teacher’s house outside of class, but I failed the university entrance exam. While contemplating what to do next, I learned about the Asahi Newspaper Scholarship Program because there was a briefing session at my high school. Therefore, I decided to study Japanese and go to Japan.

I came to Japan in March last year as an Asahi Newspaper scholar. When I first arrived in Japan, my goal was not to enter an automotive vocational school. Then, why did I come to Japan? The reason was that I couldn’t get into a university in Vietnam and I didn’t have a job. So, when I first came to Japan, I felt a bit bored for a while. But then I told myself, “No, no, wasting time is not good.” To not disappoint my family, I decided to pursue my dream again. I was determined not to give up.

That’s why, when choosing a vocational school, I only looked for automotive schools. After much consideration, I chose the Toyota Vocational School. There were various challenges to get into this school, like Japanese language and tuition issues. The entrance exam was also very difficult. However, thanks to my teachers and my own hard work, I passed the entrance exam and will be able to study about automobiles from next year. I am determined never to give up on my dream of starting my own company, for my future and for my family, no matter how difficult it is.

After studying at the automotive vocational school for three years, I plan to work at a Japanese company for 5 to 7 years. I need various experiences to start my own company. I am not sure when I can establish my company, but I have decided on the location. I plan to establish it in Vietnam so that I can see my family every day. So, I must work hard from now on. Everyone, do not give up on your dreams even if it’s tough, keep going!!!
