“Eyes of Favorite Animals”

Have you ever been to a zoo? The shapes of animals, with their short legs, large ears, long noses, and more, are fascinating to observe. Even their eye shapes vary. For instance, lions have two eyes side by side. Have you ever wondered why? Lions eat the meat of other animals. Their eyes are positioned side by side on their faces so that when they spot another animal in the distance, they can quickly run and catch it. Without having their eyes side by side, they wouldn’t be able to judge the correct distance. Monkeys also have eyes in front of their faces. When monkeys jump from tree to tree, they need to look ahead to avoid making mistakes. Animals that eat grass and leaves, like sheep and horses, always need to be alert for lions. That’s why their eyes are positioned on the sides of their faces, allowing them to see what’s behind them as they graze. Hippos and crocodiles live in the water, but their eyes are on top of their heads. This way, they can keep their eyes above water and observe their surroundings. Animals’ eyes differ depending on what they eat and where they live. Next time you visit the zoo, take a close look at the eyes of the animals. You might discover something interesting.
